Gravatar You have come back with even stronger poems. I love the images too.

Gravatar So glad to see you back. And the poems... are stark with imagery, filled with meaning, and just plain potent.
Can you hear my sigh of contentment?

Elizabeth

Gravatar great photos - and an inspired stroke of irony, how you've turned fire & rain inside out - i think the last three lines will be with me every time i snuff a candle...

Gravatar I like the pictures, but really like the poem. A kind of exegesis on the nature of hell, on evil, and its omnipresence.

I hope your trip to Plato's cave led to more than shadows on the wall.

Gravatar Happy belated blog birthday! Four years is a long time to be online. That is a testament to how many people love your work, including me!

The pictures are awesome. The poem also takes my breath away. I especially love "...when it rains/at night, all flames tremble;". The idea of fire hurting is tremendous.

For some reason, I think of how it hurt me to drink a glass of water when I was sick. I guess the title makes me think of it, and btw...I LOVE the title. Awesome ending, too.

Again, I'm so happy you're back, S.L. Thanks for both of these excellent pieces and the pictures.

Gravatar I know this place. There is something underneath the words that is so familiar...

Gravatar I suspect fires make very good poets as well. They have a certain autonomy and self awareness, unlike the waters that must be moved to action. I'm sure there is an incarnation of water out there that will promptly dispute my generalisations. Welcome back.

Gravatar I like the image beyond the screaming fire captured in a glass...

Gravatar Carole, thank you for the compliment.

Elizabeth, all the way here, dear. (big grin) I'm glad to have contributed to your reading pleasure.

Joaquin, haha! It's the reader-reaction I was gunning for, actually. You've made my day.

Cagey, yes, yes, yes, and, on the last point, yes. The mortality, the morality... You've perceptively picked up on these threads.

Gravatar Julie, thanks for the greeting! And for the generous remarks, as well, on the photos and on the poem. I do have a soft spot for the title, too, haha; makes me grin whenever I read it here (ahh, the possibilities of meaning -- rich).

Rachel, hmm. I'd like to know more...

Brad, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. A poetic incarnation of fire would, I reckon, have a penchant for waking minds up, fueling passion, inciting memorable reactions.

Annamari, much appreciated.

Gravatar I'll never look at fire/candles the same way again. A fascinating perspective on water too. A very unusual yet profound piece SL.
