And another thing...

Gravatar Mark Kleiman points to a report saying that the WINPAC info Libby had was wrong.

Gravatar * December 19, 2002. State Department publishes a Fact Sheet, released before INR vetting could be completed. Henry Waxman's investigation revealed that John Bolton's office produced the fact sheet, which was the first official public statement by the Bush administration claiming that Saddam sought uranium from Africa. Testimony gathered by the Senate Foreign Relations committee indicates that Fred Fleitz was probably involved as the central intel conduit for this project.

* July 6, 2003. Joe Wilson publishes his op-ed, challenging the administration's uranium-from-Africa claim.

* July 14, 2003. Robert Novak publishes his article answering Wilson's op-ed and outing Valerie Plame.

This timeline, coupled with Rodger's "WINPAC coincidence" analysis, is convincing circumstantial evidence that the "two senior administration officials" identified as Novak's sources were John Bolton and Fred Fleitz.

Judy Miller may have been jockeying for limits on Fitzgerald's questioning to protect them.

Did Fleitz and Bolton sign waivers? Were they asked to?
