Gravatar Doctors not doctor's

Gravatar eh *shrugs* the doctor can claim he was just trying to help a pacient (sp) avoid embaressment.

Gravatar "So, tell me officer what made you suspect something was up?"

Gravatar Is this guy related to the Colonel, that shyster doc who prescribed for Elvis?

Sure sounds like it.

Gravatar Rush has been seeing a psychiatrist.

Go figure.

Gravatar Rush Limbaugh: Boners on loan from Pfizer!

Amazingly, Rush wanted to avoid embarrassment. Too bad he didn't have the same consideration for Bill Clinton and his Monica problems.

Gravatar Rush, the hardened conservative. This really makes me laugh. And the doctor gets boned in the end.

Gravatar I still can't understand why such a fine, upstanding example of conservative values found it necessary to take Viagra on an "all guy trip."

Gravatar Well at least he's seeing a psychiatrist, that's a step in the right direction.

I'd like to know the number of his listeners that are seeing a psychiatrists.

Gravatar Just the thought of that fat, disgusting slob with an erection make my skin crawl, though I do get a chuckle out of the fact that for all his talk demeaning liberals, he himself isn't man enough to throw a rod without the help of Viagra! LOL!

Gravatar When i stop to think about it perhaps it should be illegal to give Rush Viagra.

Just thinking about future generations...

Gravatar Throw a rod? Hardened conservative? Upstanding conservative? Oh god, who gives a damn if he gets busted, this is better, soooooo much better, can we get this thread sent to his e-mail? Aaaaahhhhh man. Priceless.

Gravatar Amazingly, Rush wanted to avoid embarrassment. Too bad he didn't have the same consideration for Bill Clinton and his Monica problems.

Any good neocon will tell you, the problem isn't in what you do, the problem is getting caught at.

---
Avast ye, ya swabs!

Gravatar A psychiatrist can prescribe viagra? Well, I guess if you're Rush Limbaugh, "getting any" might fall under a mental condition. The story keeps "growing" (pardon the pun)...All boys trip to a third world country, busted by customs for bottle of viagra that's labeled for another individual that turns out to be his psychiatrist. Liberals couldn't make this stuff up!!!!!

Gravatar I doubt anything will come of this for the physicians involved. Even if the doctor obtained the prescription under his own name, he can then dispense it to a patient. The most that will happen is the doctor will get a letter from the board telling them not to do it anymore. Viagra is not a controlled substance.

It is ironic that Limbaugh wanted this to be private, and now it is anything but private.

However, in my estimation, the fact that his bags were searched and he was investigated by the DA is the fact that I find disturbing. The TSA has no right to report things of this nature. It is invasion of privacy. But then again, Rush is one of the reasons are Civil Liberties are being eroded...

Gravatar I think you're great, Crooks & Liars; but please, don't make "doctors" possessive.

Gravatar txlvn,

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, they can prescribe pretty much anything they wish.

Gravatar If this were anybody but Limbaugh I would shrug this off as a non-story. But the fact that it *is* this loathsome cut-rate Goebbels makes it a story. Certainly not important, but entertaining as all hell.

Just another little tidbit to taunt dittoheads with, courtesy of Rush.

Gravatar Excuse me, but are these your boner pills Mr. Limbaugh?

Gravatar Imagine being Rush's psychiatrist....now imagine being Rush's psychiatrist and having to sit through an hour after hour littany of the ramblings and delusions locked deep inside his twisted psychie....Got the mental picture yet? Now, imagine the mental picture that would run through your mind when he asked you to cop a prescription of Viagra on his behalf so he could crack a hard one while on a "boys only" vacation in the Dominican Republic. I tell you, $300 an hour would not be sufficient compensation.

Gravatar some dude named steevo | 07.05.06 - 6:33 pm | #

Viagra IS a controlled substance. If it wasn't you would not need a prescription.

Gravatar I tell you, $300 an hour would not be sufficient compensation.
Dubbya | 07.05.06 - 6:44 pm | #

I don't think the sex workers in the DomRep charge that much, but they probably made an exception for Rush.

Gravatar And by the way one reason it is a controlled substance is that it is abused. Not by taking too much but by using it, as some Frat boys do, to sustain an erection on drinking binges.

You can also die from using it if your heart is weak and there are other side effects.

Gravatar Again I say, and hopefully won't be deleted - Christ, why do we care??

Gravatar Jay,
Perhaps it was the name you used last time, rather than your absence of interest.

Gravatar Jay | 07.05.06 - 6:50 pm | #

I am just here to argue about how screwed up the world is.

Gravatar Um, haven't heard this raised. Just how in the hell does one pick up a drug prescribed in their doctor’s name?

Do you falsely claim to be the Dr. when you pick it up?

Flaco

Gravatar some dude named Stevo,

True, psychiatrists are licensed to prescribe medications, but why would you want to write prescriptions for medical conditions outside your field of specialty, particularly for an individual you are counseling for getting multiple prescriptions from multiple sources, regardless of the type of medications they were attempting to obtain? Of course, after reading all the other links and comments about this, it was Rush's cardiologist that wrote the prescription in the name of his psychiatrist to help avoid embarrassment. Who's embarrassed now? He's at his microphone cracking jokes about the whole thing and they may possibly be investigated.

Gravatar There aren't enough head shrinkers in Florida to deflate Limpbaughs bloated ego.

Gravatar The state attorney’s office said Dr. Steve Strumwasser’s name was on the Viagra bottle, not Limbaugh’s. Strumwasser, who is Limbaugh’s psychiatrist, told authorities he "agreed to have his name on the label in an effort to avoid potentially embarrassing publicity for the suspect," according to a filing by the prosecutor’s office.

Translation: Rush's manhood didn't have the "intellectual chops" (*snark*) to rise to the occassion and so he whined to his shrink, "Slip me some Viagra but without my name on the bottle, Doc. You know how that liberal media is?!?"

His shrink complied ... and now after getting busted, Rush is trying to avoid blame, guilt, and responsibility like the typical wingnut he is by tossing his own darn shrink under the bus.

Gravatar I posted this when the story first broke - the label that's on every Rx bottle I ever filled:

"CAUTION: Federal Law PROHIBITS the transfer of this drug to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed."

That's an exact quote, caps and all.

"Federal Law" - not State Law, even if it's the state of (Jeb's) Florida.

Gravatar I think the cardio oligist prescribed the viagra to the psychiatrist. The pshyce distributed them to limpbaugh

Gravatar I just wonder how his audience base can reconcile what Rush had to say after he was busted. going to the Dominican to get chicks and all. How come the religious right have not chimed in on this? Why haven't they been asked? Fill me in.

Gravatar Flaco do I know yoiu from PE

Gravatar By pressing the Doctors and not Rush, it says that they are somehow more responsible for his behaviour than he is.

>> And, you have to wonder what he is doing with this Performance enhancing drug going to a Latin country famous for, well, servicing this sort of performance.

I'm just saying,.. for these people that preach personal responsibility and morals all day. Obviously, Rush does not live up to anything of what he espouses. For anyone who cares about those sorts of things -- it should be disturbing.

Gravatar My dear xoites: Precisely, "you can die from using it if your heart is weak." Anybody else notice the statement in the article that the lil' blue pill was originally prescribed to Lumpy Squishballs by his CARDIOLOGIST? Then the Rx was transferred to his psychiatrist. And by the way, most psychiatrists (MD's) are merely glorified pill pushers; it's the psychologists (PhD's) who do the talk/listen therapy thing. (:>

Gravatar Rush got Boehner pills........hhhhhaaaaaa

Gravatar Rush would have been much better off if he just went and bought the damn prescription himself instead of hiding his celebrity behind a Doctor who now may have to pay the big price for helping out His Rotundity. Play with fire...blah blah blah.....

To bad His Piggyness didn't take the rap himself.

Gravatar Right on the money Captain. The irony of this to me is how loud limpbaugh would be screaming if a Clinton or Kennedy was in this predicament.

Gravatar Who would ever do a favor for a dirtbag like Limbaugh? Limbaugh has no loyalty, he'll rat you out in a heartbeat if it suits his ends.

Gravatar That makes a lot of sense... to be OK for a Florida doctor to prescribe medicine in 3rd party's name... why the frick is that OK? Cause Rush was embarassed about his small dick problems? Does that mean Rush couldn't get his insurance to pay for his cock medicine? What if someone is embarassed that they have a heart condition, can they just have all their medicines put in someone else's name, so as not to cause embarassment, and does that mean their insurance company doesn't pay the costs, cause the medicine is in the maid or someone else's name?

Stupid frickin' laws. And see, when Rush was caught with the illegal drugs, again, now he's even MORE embarasssed, so that theory just doesn't work for me.

Oh, i just heard Ashley Judd is depressed... how embarassing. I hope the doctor prescribed her drugs in someone else's name, to avoid embarassment.

Gravatar You're probably not going to find anyone on this thread, or anywhere else for that matter that despises Rush Limbaugh, what he does and what he represents more than me.
But still, short of aggravated malpractice with extreme malice, the law has no business getting involved with people and their doctors.
Even though it's Rush, I just can't support the war on drugs- especially where it interjects itself in people's medical business.
That being said- the irony of getting a Viagra script in his doctors name to "avoid embarrassment" then having it splashed across the headlines world wide is true poetic justice.
If only it ended there.
Oh, and anonymous, my guess is he needed viagra on an "all guy trip" to the Dominican Republic because all the guys went there to score some underage hookers.

Gravatar Someone needs to pay the paparrazzi to follow Rush on his next all men viagra vacation. Regardless of who or what he decides to use his viagra on, it would make for some good video footage to use against his holiness.

Gravatar I wonder if cheney and rove take viagra

Gravatar Pugsly Limbaugh can't get a boner? Huh, that's not what his mommy told me.

Gravatar A psychiatrist can prescribe viagra?

Only to a dickhead

Gravatar C;mon, lay off Rush. He obviously needed the Viagra for some prolonged frat boy initiations. Very necessary, considering the peer pressure he's under.

In truth, stupidity all around.

Gravatar I would be willing do drop all charges against Rush and his law-breaking doctor if Rush would pull down his pants, show us the size of his cock during an erection, so we can judge how in need he was of the Viagra. Also, is Rush married at the moment, or is he between wives again right now? If he's is married, and if he didn't go to the Dominican Republic with his current wife, why did he need Viagra? Did he also have condoms with him? Was he a sex tourist? Did he get any hookers there?

I would also be most interested in seeing the size of his testicles, like how low they hang, or if he has a needle dick etc.

The family values law-breaking drug addict must surely have a tiny Republican cock.

Gravatar So it was the drug addict, draft dodging, anal cyst having, lying gas bag Rush Limpball's PSYCHIATRIST who helps him get a hard on?
Interesting...
I thought Viagra was usually prescribed for men who have a physical problem with getting an erection, but are you telling me that Rush Limpballs doesn't have the will power to do it himself?

Gravatar Thought Robin Williams' take on this, on the Tonight Show, was perfect...he couldn't understand what limbaugh was doing taking viagra...all it would do is make him taller. Get it? Taller? You see he's already a prick...unnerstand?

Gravatar Rush wanted to avoid embarrassment.

I wonder how that's working out for him?

Gravatar I can see why Rush's psychiatrist thought it might be embarrasing for the news to get out that Rush was "boning up" for his vacation. The only logical explanations for Rush to be given Viagra for an all-male trip to the Dominican Republic are:

1. Rush is a closet homosexual.

2. Rush was expecting to have sex with a prostitute.

3. Rush was planning to get in touch with himself on a very intimate level.

Gravatar How brave of our news media to ask why an unmarried man needs Viagra during a brief trip to an impoverished nation known primarily for sex tourism.

Gravatar Christ - leave the fucking doc alone. Just because someone has an ashole for a patient doesn't mean they desrve this bullshit.

Gravatar The doctor's what?

Gravatar John, you are right to make the sources in these poorly covered new stories accountable for how they are quoted and paraphrased.

I'm sorry to say that I see no hope for the MSM unless the mass public starts doing this. Control of the media message has become vastly perception-based and dictated by the media corporations, not facts and sometimes not even reality.

Everyone should email the sources to complain of distortions. I won't say don't bother complaining to the media, too -- you should -- but it just isn't doing any good right now. Maybe it will if newsrooms start getting enough flak back from sources whose information has been used inappropriately.

Hold the news SOURCES' feet to the fire, "early and often," as they say in these parts.

Gravatar who cares if he takes viagra. I hate the guy and think he's a huge hypocrite, but give me a break.

Gravatar I just love how it's okay for men to get viagra but some states now want to make it a crime for women to get the birth control pill or even the morning after pill. Even some pharmacists can refuse to give women their legally prescribed pills because it's against THEIR morals. What a crazy mixed up world we are living in.

Gravatar Rush represents the party claiming ownership of "moral values."

The hypocrisy of the media not calling out a thrice (or is it five times now?) divorced man who bragged about his mistress during his last marriage now taking Viagra on a men-only trip to a country on the U.S. list of nations allowing child sex slaves ....

Un-freakin'-incredible the media turns a blind eye on the obvious. Do they think we aren't talking about Limp Squishballs' "moral values" over the watercoolers?

Gravatar Anonymous | 07.05.06 - 9:12 pm | #

The only reason that it matters is because this is an unapologetic drug addict getting drugs prescribed to him in an unorthodox and likely illegal way, who sees no hypocrisy in painting liberals as a bunch of degenerate drug addicts.

Add to the fact that he is unmarried, unattached, and said drug is designed to aid in erectile dysfunction for a trip to a country with a notorious sex business, especially with minors.

Kind of hard to point to the other side as degenerates in this scenario, isn't it?

Gravatar You all missed the story on Limbaugh...

It's not about doctor shopping.

It's about a thrice divorced, single/unmarried moralist going to a prostitution haven with a bottle of erection pills.

Unless of course he uses them for masterbation purposes only...in which case he still is a sinner

Gravatar For all future or past drug users you now have a defence for your court charge. Use the Rush Limbaugh defense and your scott free. We have a great legal system where drug users can go free and laugh while doing it.

Gravatar Yeah, why are we not hearing condemnation from the religious right about Rush being a fornicator and divorced adulterer?

Gravatar Take out the apostrophe in Doctor's, dude.

You could use a proofreader sometimes, and it detracts from the huge credibility you have when these types of errors (and the "your/you're" error, and others) occur and are not corrected.

Gravatar Well, Delphine, we have you.

Gravatar The doctor's what might be in trouble?

Sorry to be nitpicky, but jeez. An apostrophe denotes possessive, not plural.

Gravatar xoites defends Constitution,

I referred to DEA controlled substances - drugs like Oxycontin and Percocet. There are very restrictive Federal laws for prescribing DEA scheduled medications. Viagra is not a controlled substance, but it is a prescription medication. The rules for prescription medications vary from state to state and are less restrictive. There is also a difference between unethical and illegal prescriptions. Things like prescribing Viagra for your friend would be unethical, but I doubt it is illegal. Any punishment for the physicians involved would be dealt with by the Medical Board, not the County or Circuit courts.

Viagra is very easy to obtain. Most doctor's offices have lots of free samples that are usually not even under lock and key.

Also, I still think Rush Limbaugh's privacy was invaded. This is the very kind of things that happen when there is such serious erosion of the 4th amendment. It is wrong, regardless of who it happens too.

Gravatar Privacy shmivacy. When you're a public figure, you have implicitly given up your right to privacy. Especially when you're a public figure who doesn't give a damn about the privacy of others. He's in EVERYBODY's business. Nothing is sacred (about others) to him.

Gravatar stevo,
The doctor is definately in hot water here. He could get his license suspended or revoked. This isn't a laughing matter for him.

Here is why this is a major problem: you have a patient who plead guilty to "doctor-shopping", which means he was going to multiple doctor's to get the same prescription so he could abuse them.

Now, he goes to a doctor and asks for a prescription, but not in his name. He would then be able to go to another doctor to get a prescription in his name, and nobody would be the wiser.

Gravatar The big news here is RUSH LIMBAUGH HAS A PSYCHIATRIST.

LOL that doesnt surprise me at all.

Gravatar Forget it, Jake. It's Florida.

That, and IOKIYAR.

Wave on, wave on.

Gravatar We still have notice that the drug addled lardassed, gas bag is also impotent. What a joke...cons have such lousy heroes...cowards, liars, and crooks...

Gravatar I had a thought about this today and it seems to me that a scrupulous investigative reporter should be able to do a tax write off on a trip to the Dominican Republic. All he needs is a recent picture of Limp-bow and a plane ticket.

Gravatar and if you think about it. Those people love to talk if you put a big american bill in their hands.

Gravatar The story is there just waiting for someone to blow it wide open.

Gravatar Mush Limpdick-- that should be his new name on the radio. Ha, ha. I'm in my 69th year, and I don't need that med. What's wrong, Mushy, boy. Can't you get it up even for the child prostitutes in The Dominican Republic? You are a pathetic asshole-- all hot air and no woody. You fucking fraud.

Gravatar The pig flies again, onward to new heights of vulgarity.

Gravatar I posted this when the story first broke - the label that's on every Rx bottle I ever filled:

"CAUTION: Federal Law PROHIBITS the transfer of this drug to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed."

That's an exact quote, caps and all.

"Federal Law" - not State Law, even if it's the state of (Jeb's) Florida.
ezpz | 07.05.06 - 7:37 pm
-------------------------------

I checked all my prescriptions and they say the same thing. We need to stress this fact everywhere and constantly.

Gravatar Privacy?? The guy is on probation. Criminals on probabtion aren't usually entitled to a lot of "privacy."

Gravatar some dude named steevo | 07.05.06 - 10:10 pm

So, why, then, steevo, wasn't Rush traveling with the samples?

DR | 07.05.06 - 10:43 pm |

Yep, sure seems like doctor shopping to me. Makes me wonder if the doc who wrote the scrip was what William Burroughs might refer to as a "croaker". He might get that reputation now.

Whether or not the DA presses charges(and why tie up the courts with a friggin' Viagra bust?), I also wonder if Rush's p.o. could violate him for a pattern of behavior that was abusive of the system(medical, not legal system).

My third thought is this: does prolonged use of Oxycontin cause, in some cases, erectile dysfunction?

Gravatar Has OxyRush Lameballs OD'ed yet? Just a matter of time.

Gravatar Why would a shrink prescribe viagra?

Gravatar What, they're not going after the kid who works at the pharmacy counter?

Gravatar I'm not a fan of Limbaugh's, but I think this is not smart of C&L to be touting this kind of story. For crying out loud, it's Viagra! Who gives a rip. Let this one go...

Gravatar What do Kim Jong Il and Rush Limbaugh have in common?

Niether can keep their rockets in the air for more than 30 seconds.

Gravatar Smell that????Oh it must be that liar with boner pills again..........stay upwind

Gravatar rush limbaugh is an OXY-moron
