I just sent this message to the oah.gov site and mr pearson himself. what an ass---------------------- I am a senior in high school and have been taking a law class this year. Currently, we are talking about civil lawsuits and torts. Part of our requirements for the class is that we complete weekly article summaries. Usually, we do criminal summaries but we were instructed to complete civil suit summaries for the past two weeks. Throughout the note-taking process we have heard various stories about people who file random lawsuits. I just read the story about Mr. Pearson suing the dry cleaners over a pair of pants. I have come to a conclusion that stupid people come up with stupid "get rich quick" plans and try to sue their way to a life of luxury and happiness. Mr. Pearson, in my opinion, is the epitome of this theory. The suit is ridiculous and he should be disbarred. To think that his profession is to uphold the constitution, which is based on the ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the fact that he is making such a claim that would ruin a couples lives forever is completely ridiculous. The fact that he has put forth such an effort to ruin the ideals of this country and take advantage of a system that he is making corrupt and unjust makes me sick to my stomach. I wish that this man would grow up and show at least half an inkling of maturity and drop this case. Over the past few weeks I have realized that many Americans are stupid and look to take advantage of people over stupid situations. Any reasonable human being would have moved past the situation and not have thought twice. My suggestion to improving DC and this country is to never let Mr. Pearson take part in the judicial process for the rest of his life and ban him from the courtroom. Its time to grow up and move on.

Pearson's acts were despicable. But it is also despicable that the blogger writes that because Pearson is Black, "He obviously grew up with that chip-on-a-shoulder nigga-attitude." Being Black has NOTHING to do with Pearson filing suit. Pearson is a petty, ignorant, and vindictive man. I have nothing against him because he's black, but I have seen this attitude of entitlement before. Precisely because he is black, he should have been more circumspect in his idiocy knowing full well that there would be remarks based on his race. Because he ignored this peril to his race, I ascribed his attitude to that typical of others like him.

I do not use the n-word in any of my posts unless I'm quoting directly from a black speaker, in this post I used nigga, which is a modern term which exact meaning is dependent on context. Since Pearson is black and the Chungs Korean, and since Pearson has escalated a trifling inconvenience into a federal case costing the Chungs their livelihoods and I also have read about how this Judge conducted his divorce I have concluded that this case cannot be about a pair of pants. It is something personnel.
He went insane in his divorce case and the poor victim on the other end of his legal rant was his wife, so we can understand where his bitter enmity comes from in that case.
But he's not related to the Chungs, so what could be driving him completely whacko about the Chungs one may wonder?
I personally know hundreds of Koreans from dealing with them in my phone business as distributers and business owners. Admittedly this is a small sample, but I have never met a single Korean who says he has had a positive experience with blacks, but rather that there are huge, huge problems with their black clientele. In addition, a cursory googling of black on asian hate and crime will satisfy any researcher on the matter that my limited knowledge of black on Korean hatred is not a false stereotype, but in fact the truth in the real world.

I've worked that cleaners in my youth and, from experience, I can tell you that much more than half the blacks I have come into contact with were raging, anti-Asian racists. One would think that, rationally, blacks wouldn't be racist against Asians because we're all minorities after all. But no, sadly, blacks were much more racist than the lower class whites. This isn't to say that all blacks were this way...just an overwhelming majority.

This effect is widely observed in "barrios", "ghettos", "trailer parks", "reservations", and the various "asian town" communities. These familes become stuck in a poverty cycle while families of similar backgrounds often miles away flourish.
#5 And do you think it is surprising that after being financially, culturally, emotionally, historically, and socially destroyed as a people simply due to color; that blacks in America might have a problem with race. Lol you act like my grandparents were not raised on a plantation, what planet do you live on lol and Im only 24. My God, do you think slavery magically went away after the proclamation. Like slaves had money to move out and there were police who cared when blacks got beat.
#6 and also to compare asians in america to blacks in america non subjectively we would have to include some percentage of the countless asains who could not afford to move to America due to conditions often times similar to American slavery. A more apporpriate comparison would be to compare Asian Americans with Blacks who have moved out of the inner-city, but the high number of variables and factors that are intrinsic to economic status would make that study useless.

No survey or statistic can take away from the reality of what happens in the inner cities in my Metro Area... sorry.

Celsius -- I really don't think traveling through various midwestern towns gives you a true sense of what it's like to actually live in those towns. Again, I'm not saying my own personal experience is representative of the entire midwest. I grew up in a rather small town in the midwest -- actually lived there -- and more than half the blacks I have encountered (socially and otherwise) have been overwhelmingly prejudicial or racial against Asians (or in my case, Koreans). Case in point, after the Virginia Tech shootings a young black male told my mother -- and I quote -- "this is why all you people need to go back to your own country." So when I do meet blacks that are NOT like the ones I just described above, I am thrilled. I just find that it doesn't happen that often.

It wasn't only about being burned, if you read the full court transcripts it was also about McD's knowing their coffee was causing 3d degree burns and, via memo's, discussing it as a danger to customers BEFORE this accident occurred. Race may certainly have motivated Pearson, and I agree that there are some very poisonous aspects to black culture in America.
However, I find it telling that just under the Pearson article was a Reuters article about a study showing that blacks tend to get substantially worse care after a heart attack than whites.
I think it's a mistake to believe black racism against jews or asians does not exist, but it's also a mistake to pretend that blacks don't still have a tough time of it because of their color. They do, and I'm sure that continues to fuel a lot of the negativity that we see in black culture in America -- I don't think it's just anger about historical events.

What if one person sues someone else for farting next to them, claiming that it is violating their right to happiness and causing them mental anguish? (actually, this sounds like it has probably happened before.) but what if that person asks for a billion dollars in reparation, citing various environmental acts and claiming that emotion is priceless (and only can be assuaged by that much amount of money)?

Race does play a role in this country EVERY DAY in almost everything you do or react to. It's something that affects everyone, everywhere.
I do not think it's appropriate for Whites to use any potentially race-charged terms unless in some sort of academic/intellectual discussion setting.
